Polly Dolly - New Year

Tonight I am attending a pool party at my friends Rihana and Dan. I want something that I can just chuck on over my bikini, so my Barkins belted dress is perfect (minus the belt). I actually own items similar to everything featured, my favourite is my Sportsgirl Lucy bag which is a 'copy' of the Proenza PS1.

I hope you have an awesome New Year! See you next year!

Fat to Fit - Holiday fun & New Year's Resolutions

I have begun my New Year's Resolution Early, this year is the year I stay fit, healthy and trim. I have already done 2 walk/runs with the dog since last week, a workout with My Workout on Lifestyle You Channel.  I am about to go for another walk/run with the dog this morning.

HOW AM I GOING TO KEEP THIS RESOLUTION
Easily; I am going to do more exercise and not make excuses like I have been. It is my choice what I do and how I look and feel. It is up to me to get the Christmas kilos off. The rain and lack of exercise have contributed to this gain; not the food choices.

I am going to do a morning workout, probably with Zuzanna on BodyRock.tv or use my newly purchased Women's Health Big Book of Exercises. Of an afternoon I will either go for a run or walk the dog or pull out the exco bike trainer.

WHAT CHANGES AM I COMMITTED TO MAKING ON THIS NEW PROGRAM!
  • Try new recipes from the two new cookbooks and the magazine.
  • More exercise; despite the weather I need to still do exercise
  • Looking at portion control; not eating too much over this weekend
  • Where ever possible eating more fruit and vegetables.
  • Try new things
WHAT I DID LAST WEEK:
  • Helped demolish walls at my house - old garage walls are gone, a 4 car garage is left now. Remove the old laundry walls to become the new walkway to our master bedroom. This included removal of gyprock, studs and lots and lots of sweeping. Helped remove old sliding doors.
  • Monday - Friday I ate fruit instead of processed snacks including smoothies and fruit juice.
  • Eating more vegetables in dinner and lunches
  • Walked/ran with the dog Friday, Wednesday and Thursday for 4-5km in the morning around my local area and through the dog park.
  • Thursday Am - My Workout on Lifestyle You Channel
CHANGES I'M MAKING THIS WEEK:
  •  Don't drink too much, I already have gained 2kg in 2 weeks from alcohol and little exercise.
  • Eat all allocated ProPoints, try not to use Weekly Allocated ProPoints.
  • Do more exercise, even though it will be raining for the next 8 days.
  • Eat more whole foods instead of processed foods
  • Watch portion sizing especially when going out.
  • Eating fruit and vegetables instead of processed snack foods
  • Doing a morning workout with My Workout on Lifestyle You channel or afternoon workout with Zuzana on www.bodyrock.tv - I must do these!!!! NO EXCUSES!
MY AIM THIS WEEK:
  • Is to drink less and exercise more.
  • Try to keep away from the Christmas Snacks - they are still around!
  • Do more free weight training (done)
  • Start running (done x 2)
  • Walk the dog (done x3)

Post-it-note Tuesday

As I was out yesterday on a drive to Yamba in Northern New South Wales. It was overcast with rainy periods. It is a beautiful town, we are thinking of spending a weekend down there over Easter.

I am posting my Post -it-Note today.

Christmas and Allergies

Our extended family all go out for dinner on Christmas Eve to this little retro 1970's place at Mermaid Beach called Mirrors. The food is to die for. I ordered Garlic Moreton Bay Bugs. This was a mistake! Hours later I learnt that I may be allergic to Moreton Bay Bugs. ( I have had them before but not in the amount I had consumed; 3 whole bugs.) I came out with red cheeks, a rash (which I thought was from Midge bites), my body swelled up, my eyelids swelled up, my throat closed up and I had trouble breathing, I had bad sinus and thought I was going to suffocate in my sleep. Not a pleasant evening. I woke up on Christmas Morning swollen, tired an sore. I took some antihistamine and panadol which eventually reduced the swelling. Other than that I had a beautiful Christmas Day with Family.

Surviving the Christmas Week

Over the past two weeks I have put on 2kg, I know what I have done wrong (too much alcohol and not enough exercise). So I need to rectify it over the next 2 weeks.

This weather we are having it doesn't feel like Christmas. I wish it was sunny or I was back in Canada for Christmas.

WHAT I HAVE TO DO BEFORE CHRISTMAS DAY
I have to clean the flat as my parents in-law are having guests from Christmas Eve onwards. I am in the middle of folding 4 baskets of clothes. I have 2 loads of washing to do (and its raining). My partner needs to do his Christmas Shopping for me. I have even printed and circled exactly what I want and told him the exact store to go to get it (he doesn't do shopping)! I have a small grocery shop to do as I need milk and breakfast foods.

HOW TO AVOID THE BAD FOOD OVER CHRISTMAS
  • Make sure there are healthy options available. If not opt to bring your own.
  • Make sure you have a healthy breakfast with protein, fruit and whole grains.
  • If you are going out for dinner over the Christmas period to a restaurant then have a light lunch or salad so you can enjoy your dinner
  • Drink lots of water
  • Ask people to remove the tempting food from near you on the table.
  • Weigh up if you want that treat or if you want to keep the weight off. Remember it can only take 1 week to gain a kg and up to 3 to loose it.
  • It is your choice what you put into your body
  • If you really want to have a dessert share it.
  • I eat all the salad and vegetables first then I will eat the meat and other foods on my plate; usually I can't fit it in and stop before I feel full.
  • Remember, Christmas goes for just one day, not one month!

Fat to fit - How to keep fit over Christmas

The thing I am struggling with at the moment is exercise. Other than walking I have not done any for a while. I am keen to get back into running.I haven't had time on my holidays yet to exercise due to renovation commitments and the weather.

GREAT EXERCISES TO DO OVER THE CHRISTMAS PERIOD
    • Running along the beach
    • Walking on the beach (while the boys all bodyboard or surf)
    • Swimming at the beach or pool
    • Riding in the bush
    • Riding on bike paths
    • Playing footy or cricket in the backyard
    • Using kids playground equipment as your gym Interval training.

    WHEN TO EXERCISE
    • Do your exercise in the morning before it gets too hot or you don't feel like it.
    • if you are riding it is better to do it earlier as the sun isn't too bad and you won't dehydrate as bad.
    • I usually go to the beach before 7am and am home by just after 9am for breakfast, it is a great place to workout  because if you get too hot you can go for a swim.

WHAT CHANGES AM I COMMITTED TO MAKING ON THIS NEW PROGRAM!
    • Try new recipes from the two new cookbooks.
    • More exercise
    • Looking at portion control

    • Eating more vegetables in dinner and lunches

    Polly Dolly - Sk8r

Welcome to Polly Dolly Challenge - Week :  This week's topic is...Skater (it maybe rollerblading, roller skating, ice skating).
Go visit www.danimezza.com and check out some of the other bloggers links too.

I was a sk8r girl, I owned a skateboard that had a brightly coloured cartoon deck with neon blue wheels. I proudly skated around my neighbourhood where I grew up with my little sister in tow on her pink BMX bike in matching hypercolour tops and neon bikepants. Very cool! My helmet was actually baby pink and I did have all the guards. I remember my Mum saying, "Boys don't like girls with scars!" Oh the 90's were the days!
